Safety and Health

Self-assessment is a fundamental part of an effective compliance strategy. Our team audits EHS compliance and the underlying management systems that ensure conformity is maintained. We assist you in identifying and prioritizing corrective actions, establishing benchmarks and developing performance metrics for tracking efficiency, productivity, and cost. Our team is ready to assist you with identifying and maintaining your Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). AOE is standing prepared to assist you in the following areas:

                      | Safety Program Evaluation |
                       |

AOE will evaluate your existing safety program to insure the program meets OSHA requirements and satisfies federal, state and local regulations.  Do you document your employee training?  Do you have written procedures for changing filters and belts on your machinery?  Are your employees wearing the right protective equipment?  If not, you are at risk for an OSHA penalty, or penalties.  Let us assist you by reviewing your current documentation for compliance.  We also provide safety manual development.

We are available to represent and counsel you during OSHA compliance audits.  AOE will assist in addressing any issues identified during the audit, including corrective action planning.  In most cases, a site-specific plan with detailed procedures can be outlined and/or implemented even before the OSHA representative’s arrival.

                       |

Lockout Tagout (LOTO) procedures are used to prevent the accidental activation of equipment, particularly when it is undergoing maintenance.  This process allows for locks, tags, and other hardware that are identified and required to be used to “lock out” or “tag out” for personnel protection.   AOE works with you to identify these areas and makes recommendations based on findings.

Confined Space is a space large enough and so configured that a person can bodily enter to perform assigned work, has limited or restricted means for entry or exit, and is not designed for continuous occupancy.  This space may contain, or have the potential to contain, a hazardous atmosphere; has an internal configuration such that an entrant could be trapped or asphyxiated; contains a material that has the potential for engulfing an entrant; and/or contains any other recognized serious safety or health hazard.  Our consultants assist with identification of these spaces and recommend steps to ensure employees are safe when occupying the area.

Integral to any safety program, the proper use of machine guards reduces injuries and protects personnel.   Our qualified consultants perform walk-through assessments to observe the use of such guards and provide recommendations for your consideration.

One of the most common hazards in the workplace is falling.  An outside consultant’s view may alert you to risks you have taken for granted.  Let us identify corrective action to reduce your liability and improve your safety record.

OSHA’s hazard communication standard is consistently ranked as one of the most frequently cited inspections.  This standard applies to any defined chemical used in the workplace.  Employers are required to inform their employees of the potential health hazards associated with exposure to such chemicals used or stored at the workplace.  Your program must include a written plan, warning labels on stationary containers, MSDS sheets, and employee training.  We can assist you in all aspects of meeting these requirements.

Providing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to employees and making sure the equipment is safety to use and in good condition is a safety requirement no company should ignore.  Protective equipment includes eye and face protection, respiratory protection, head protection, foot protection, hand protection, and electrical protective equipment.  We evaluate your equipment to insure it is safe and are available to train your staff to insure it is used properly.

Whether you are starting from scratch or just updating your existing plan(s), we can make it easy for you to minimize potential injury or physical damage in the event of a catastrophic event.  After the plan is developed, it should be reviewed annually or when responsibilities or hazards change.   Potential emergencies at your worksite may be fire, flood, chemical spills or explosions.
